GOJO Public Transport Campaign for the. Disability Rights Commission

GOJO Public Transportion

GOJO Public Transportion is a campaign for the Disability rights commission. They encourage young people that are disabled to use public transportation, because many young disabled people lack the confidence to use public transportation like those who are not disabled. The goals of GOJO include:

  • To make those more confident with taking journey’s on public transportation by disabled individuals ages 16 to 25.
  • To increase the awareness about rights in the discrimination laws that affect public transportation
  • To increase the traffic to information points on disability and travel issues.

The first step in the GOJO campaign is to understand the issues:

Cons of public transportation

  • It is scary
  • Don’t know local routes
  • The operators will not help you
  • Don’t know anyone else who uses it

Pros of GOJO:

  • Can provide advice to make it less scary
  • Can provide the local information you may need
  • Operators are now to provide you with support
  • The online community can help share travel stories
  • The next step in the campaign is to develop intervention such as:
  • The number of participants who don’t describe themselves as disabled
  • You people feel that the staff was not friendly
  • Many had a negative experience in the past

GOJO is a great campaign to help those individuals aged 16 to 25 who are disabled feel more confident in using their public transportation system. They are there to provide support every step of the way so they can willingly use the public transportation system in the future without any assistance. This campaign has also made to help those disabled individuals feel they can fully care for themselves without the help of others. The public transportation step for them was a huge step because that was the one barrier that was hard for them to overcome.
